In times of crisis, we can’t help but get inspired by how the community never fails to come together. And even as we enter a new season, we all can agree that good times are necessary no matter where you live. The final leg of September is no exception, with some of the most jam-packed nights around. Film festivals, movie screenings, art tours, and a whole lot of live music await you.
Saturday, September 16:
Saturday Morning Detox Yoga – Every Saturday Morning (weather permitting) gather at Freehand Miami‘s Lobby and walk over to the beach on 29th Street for 1 hour of Yoga to detox from Miami Friday Nights. Saturday Morning Instructor is Angela Munoz Yoga. Please bring water, sunscreen and a towel (or you can rent one at front desk).

OIGO Live at The Yard – It’s Adrian’s birthday. So he invited some of his friends to make noise fashioned for dance in order to celebrate solar circumvention. Sets by Tony Laurencio (from Afrobeta) and Jose Javier Freire (from Bacilos) as BeatMachines, and Jason Matthews and Armando Lopez (from Electric Kif) as Morocho.

Francis Harris presents Kingdoms: Extended Set – Francis Harris, of Frank & Tony launches his new label and concept, “Kingdoms.” The new outlet follows Scissor & Thread, the label the New York artist ran with Anthony Collins from 2011 until earlier this year. Kingdoms will focus on more than just dance music, taking in “club-inflected jazz, contemporary composition, ambient and reissues of obscurities from across the musical spectrum.”

Pups & Pints – Bring your furry best friend for the ultimate play date while helping other dogs find a forever-home. Concrete Beach will be donating a portion of proceeds to Paws 4 You. A canine brunch will be provided by Dishes for Dogs. A human brunch will be provided by Magic Box.

Classic Album Sundays – Celebrate the 20th anniversary of two absolute essentials. The CAS album of the month is Björk’s “Homogenic” (1997) and as a special treat they’ll be warming up with Portishead’s incredible self-titled sophomore album. Tropico Virgo – TROPICO VIRGO is a gathering of music lovers who enjoy selections that don’t quite work at the club and don’t quite fall into a specific genre, but fare better in the dark recesses of your local watering hole over a quality cocktail and cigarette. Terence and Patrick explore the spaces residing among disco, post-punk, kraut, ambient, pop, dub, techno and anything else that fits the mood this Sunday, starting early for those early risers, and ending later for the night creatures.

Shop + Save (furry) Lives – The reckless abandon of helpless animals, even during stressful times, is not something The Station will tolerate. They’ll be donating 15% of sales that occur Tuesday 9/19 – Friday 9/22 to Best Friends Animal Society for their rescuing and reuniting efforts. Join them for when they re-open, and help our furry friends affected by Hurricane Irma.

Buskerfest Miami 2017 Kick-Off – Join the Buskerfest family as they announce this year’s festival date and open the call-to-artists/volunteer sign-up! The Buskerfest crew will be on hand to answer any questions you have about performing or volunteering at the 2017 festival. The party will also feature performances from some surprise guests and an open mic should they have any brave souls in the audience.

Keg & Klean – Join Debris Free Oceans, Miami Waterkeeper, and New Leaders Council – Florida for this month’s community clean up. Working together to clean up Wynwood, you will make an impact on the neighborhood, as well as Biscayne Bay and our Miami beaches. Trash eventually makes its way from city centers like Wynwood to our waterways, harming marine life and water quality.

Let’s Build: Combine Art & Technology – Come learn this new form of art expression that combines art and technology to make something compelling, interactive, and engaging. ONE NIGHT ONLY: Jungle Love by Stephanie Ansin – Three very different couples lose themselves in the depths of the Brazilian Amazon and find a universal truth. Join them on this funny, poignant, racy journey of self-discovery that reminds us all that sometimes we need to step outside of our comfort zone to become who we were meant to be. A FREE staged reading of her new romantic comedy, JUNGLE LOVE. Directed by Victor Lirio, the reading is the culmination of Ansin’s two years in Miami-Dade County’s Playwright Development Program.

Daybreaker MIA / Pajamas in Space – One of the most powerful things about Miami’s Daybreaker is the fact that we are a community, and together we can do so much. Florida Day of Civic Hacking – National Day of Civic ‘Hacking’ is an annual international event centered on promoting open data initiatives and locals hacking ways to help improve their community. Thousands of people from around the world will tackle challenges using datasets central to their environment, government, public services, and other civic-oriented topics.

South Florida Craft Beer Run – The South Florida Craft Beer Run is the first 5K Craft Beer Run in Miami, Fl. The 5K is open to runners and beer lovers of all levels. The race will take place at The Tank Brewing Co. on Saturday, September 30th at 6:00 PM. The post-race celebrations include a festival with local breweries sampling their brews, food by-the-bite, LIVE music and games. All proceeds from the race will be donated to Amigos for Kids and Live Like Bella.
