25 Apr - Hotel Man Repeller
We love Man Repeller — the site where intellect and beauty meet. So a few weeks ago, we decided to join forces to create the very first Hotel Man Repeller, an immersive two-night weekend at the Freehand N.Y., focused on bringing the MR community together and living out of the best of New York the way we see (and write and illustrate about!) it.
250 guests stayed for the weekend, and were treated to a litany of MR-approved activities (all while enjoying the cushy digs of the Freehand New york): drinks and shopping at Canal Street Market, a movie screening at the Roxy, a Supergoop breakfast at the Freehand’s George Washington Bar, dinosaur donuts (!), and a double-decker bus tour. Created especially for the event, the masterminds at Man Repeller put together a guide to New York City — 45 pages of maps and neighborhood guides (with illustrations by the extremely talented Abigail St. Claire)
To top off the weekend fun, Man Repeller built out a pop-up within the Freehand gift store, complete with custom collaborations with all the site’s favorite designers, including earrings from Lizzie Fortunato, socks from KULE, and necklaces from The Giving Keys. There were even bucket hats and tote bags from the design studio, Print All Over Me. YES.
In short: it was the best sleepover party ever. Cheers to new friends, and to taking in the city with a fresh pair of eyes. Will there be a Hotel Man Repeller II? Stay tuned.
