Miami Music Week Recap
Last month, we celebrated Miami Music Week, the city’s multi-day celebration of all things electronic dance. We got in on the festivities in a big way, with diverse line-up of parties of our own here at Freehand. The place was bumping all weekend. Here are some highlights.
We kicked the weekend off with some energetic sounds courtesy of Rebolledo, who began his career as a DJ in Playa del Carmen and has since become a major player on the Electronic scene with tracks like “Guerrero” and “Pitaya Frenesi.”
The next night, we hosted COLLISION at Broken-Shaker, a cross-cultural music event that aims to highlight and support Japanese talent in the U.S., by fusing Japanese and American electronic music, visual art, fashion, and food. We had performances from up-and-coming Japanese-American artists like Alice Iguchi and Ayako.
Saturday was an all-day rotation of some of our favorite artists and DJs who are putting their own unique spins on the Electronic genre: Tara Brooks, Dude Skywalker, Isa, Maccabi, Nii Tei, and Puma.
We also hosted our second annual ‘Slice, Slice Baby’ DJ Ping Pong tournament, featuring competitors like Rony Seikaly, Serge Devant, Art Deprtment, and Davide Squillace. The competition was fierce, and it was a blast.
The closing event (and the highlight of the weekend!) was our barbecue at the Broken Shaker — our biggest one yet. People were partying with burgers and cocktails in hand all day long.
Thanks to everyone who joined us!
