James Beard Weekend in Chicago
The James Beard Awards will once again be held in the culinary hub that is Chicago. The Awards celebrate the best and brightest culinary professionals in America. Over the course of the first weekend in May, Chicago will welcome nearly 2,000 of the country’s top chefs, restaurateurs, and industry enthusiasts. Here is how we are celebrating at Broken Shaker Chicago!
Afternoon Tea with Pichet Ong
May 4th from 2pm-4pm
Kick off the weekend with an exclusive afternoon of tea and cake with James Beard Nominee, Pichet Ong, from Brothers And Sisters. Enjoy a choice of boozy or classic tea with a variety of cakes prepared by Pichet Ong, followed a punch cocktail created DJ Dodd of Freehand Chicago’s Broken Shaker. Afternoon tea, served Freehand style.
Brothers And Sisters at Broken Shaker
May 4th from 9pm-late
Brothers And Sisters from THE LINE DC will be popping up at Broken Shaker Chicago in celebration of the James Beard Awards. Join us on Saturday evening for an exclusive menu, created by celebrated chefs Erik Bruner-Yang & Pichet Ong with cocktails by Todd Thrasher. J.Larroc will be in house to curate the tunes.
La Factoría at Broken Shaker
May 5th 8pm-late
Named one of the World’s 50 Best Bars, Puerto Rico’s La Factoría will be popping up at Broken Shaker Chicago in celebration of the James Beard Awards on Sunday evening. Enjoy a cocktail menu takeover by La Factoría with Puerto Rican food curated by Chef Jimmy Leblon of Freehand Miami. Latin tunes by Melting Pot featuring Dave Mata, Daniel Villarreal-Carrillo, and King Tony. Come prepared to dance!
Coast to Coast

Close out James Beard weekend with the Broken Shaker team. Join us in celebrating the spirit of Broken Shaker, from coast to coast! On Monday evening, we will be welcoming our sisters, Christine Wiseman, LeeAnne Burns, and Erika Ordóñez, the women behind our cocktails, from LA, MIA, and NYC. Experience tacos, inspired by the cities we call home, curated by Chef Jimmy Leblon of Miami and Ollie Walleck of Chicago.
