Chicago
Freehand is also a destination for the best of the genre?
Every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., we’re hosting different Chicago musicians to play two 45-minute sets showcasing the newest and coolest of experimental jazz. Expect totally unique sounds, with no two sets being the same. This month’s line-up includes Daniel Van Duerm, a multi-disciplinary artist specializing in improvised music; Jonathan Marks, a percussionist and DJ who has toured with everyone from Lupe Fiasco to the Grammy-nominated Liquid Soul; Jeremy Cunningham and Lane Beckstrom of Resavoir, a collection of artists and improvisers directed by the acclaimed trumpeter Will Miller. Each set is curated by Royal Hands’ Trey Elder, who also oversaw our music series centered on sonic improvisation last month.
Hope you’ll come by!
