10 May - Weekend Roundup: May 10-12
It’s that time of the week!
Friday (5/10) // Art Class at Freehand Miami:
Join us tonight for our first-ever art class in the courtyard. Russian abstractionist Vassily Kandinsky famously recorded the rhythm of music in his paintings, so we’re taking a page out of his book and adding our own twist. We’ll start off sketching to some music—with our eyes closed. Then, we’ll open our eyes, add some watercolors and enjoy happy hour at The Broken Shaker.
There’s still time to sign up! RSVP here by joining the Facebook event.
Saturday (5/11) // Precipice/PostModem at Locust Projects:
Scope out our friend Jillian Mayer’s amazing new show at Saturday’s opening reception. Mayer was named one of the “25 New Faces” by Filmmaker Magazine last year, her movies have premiered at SXSW and Sundance, and she frequently collaborates with other Miami artists like Borscht Corp. founder Lucas Leyva and local indie-rockers ANR. Her show will feature everything from sculpture and installation art to cinema and smartphone-powered pieces, with themes ranging from dreaming to singularity. It’s great stuff!
Sunday (5/12) // Macchialina:
Filling up on Macchialina’s feel-good Italian is one of our favorite ways to close out the weekend. Here’s what we like: the creamy polenta with sausage ragu and cipollini, the lasagna with shortribs and taleggio, and for dessert, the tiramisu. Buon appetito!
