Where is the Wolfsonian?

The Wolfsonian is located on the corner of 10th & Washington, right in the heart of Miami South Beach’s popular Art Deco District.

Fun fact: the museum itself is housed in a beautifully restored 1927 Mediterranean Revival building that used to be the home of the Washington Storage Company.

What to see at The Wolfsonian

The Wolfsonian is home to an impressive collection of over 200,000 objects from the 1850s to the 1950s. Collections vary from everyday household objects to innovative designs and from wartime propaganda posters to graphic design. Most of the Wolfsonian’s collection comes from the United States and Europe but they do include some pieces from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Themed exhibitions rotate throughout the year so there’s always something new to see. The museum is also host to a variety of talks, performances and events – perfect for a date night or group outing.

There’s also an onsite restaurant and cafe for refreshments as well as a gift shop.

Is admission free?

Admission to The Wolfsonian is free for the following groups of people:

  • Wolfsonian members
  • Florida residents
  • Visitors with disabilities and their accompanying caregivers
  • Children under 6
  • Students, faculty, and staff of the State University System of Florida

For adults, admission tickets cost $12. For seniors, students with ID, and children aged 6 to 18, it’s $8. HOWEVER entry to The Wolfsonian is free for everyone every Friday between 6 pm – 9 pm!

Opening Hours

The Wolfsonian is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am – 6 pm (on Friday, it closes at 9 pm).

The museum is closed on most National holidays including: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. The Wolfsonian also closes early on New Year’s Eve at 6 pm.

How far is The Wolfsonian from Freehand Miami?

The Wolfsonian is 22 minutes from Freehand Miami on public transport. The best way to get there is by catching the L/S bus from Indian Creek Drive & 27th Street to Collins Avenue & 17th Street.

If you feel like walking, you can take a leisurely 40 minutes stroll down Collins Avenue to The museum. And if you’re really in a hurry, you can hail a taxi to The Wolfsonian in around 5 minutes.

Is there parking?

The Wolfsonian doesn’t have its own parking garage; however, there are several options for public parking around the museum. The three closest parking garages are:

  • Collins Avenue Garage (2nd Street & Collins Avenue)
  • Lincoln Road Garage (17th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue)
  • Washington Square Garage (Washington Avenue & 12 Street)
